Organizing authority

The 2010 International FJ European Championship will be held from July 25th to July 30th 2010 in Muiden, The Netherlands. The organizing authority is the Royal Netherlands Yacht Club (KNZ&RV) in cooperation with the Stichting Flying Junior Europeans 1996 under the auspices of the International Flying Junior Organization (IFJO) and the Royal Netherlands Yachting Union (Watersportverbond).

1. Rules

1.1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing and the IFJO Championship Rules.

1.2. No national prescriptions will apply.

1.3. Appendix P of The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 – 2012 will apply.

1.4. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence. 

 

2. Advertising

2.1. Advertising will be restricted to Category “C”

2.2. Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority in accordance with ISAF regulation 20.3 and 20.4.

 

3. Eligibility and entry

3.1. The regatta is open to all boats complying with the class rules of the International FJ Class.

3.2. Eligible boats may enter by filling out the entry form before June 1st 2010. The entry form will be available online from February 15th 2010 on: www.fjeuropeans2010.nl. An entry is valid after the organization receives the entry fee.

3.3. By completing the entry form in writing, through email or through the website, the boat owner and/or the representative agrees to pay the participation fee.

3.4. Late entries will be accepted but will have to pay an increased “late entry“ fee.

 

4. Classification

4.1. No classification requirements will apply.

 

5. Fees

5.1. The fee for participating in the International FJ European Championship is € 325 and shall be paid by bank transfer before June 1st 2010.

5.2. The late entry fee is € 400.

5.3. Entry fees are not refundable.

6.2. No starting signal will be given after 18:00 on a racing day except on Friday July 30th.

6.3. No starting signal will be given on Friday July 30th after 16:00.

6.4. The race committee may decide to change the racing program but may never become more than one race ahead of schedule.

 

7. Measurements

7.1. Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate.

7.2. All boats will be measured for compliance with the Class Rules. Measurement will take place at the venue as scheduled in 6.1.

7.3. Any boat and its equipment may be subject to re-measurement or examination at any time.

 

8. Sailing Instructions

8.1. The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

8.2. A preliminary version of the sailing instructions will be available online June 1st 2010 at www.fjeuropeans2010.nl.

 

9. Venue

9.1. The venue will be:

The historic town of Muiden is situated approximately 20 km OSO of Amsterdam.

9.2 The races will be sailed on the southern part of the IJsselmeer. The racing area is non-tidal and has fresh water.

 

10. Courses

10.1. The courses to be sailed will be of the trapezium type.

10.2. The approximate course length will be 1 hour.

 

11. Penalty system

11.1. Decisions of the jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5.

 

12. Scoring

12.1. The low point system of Appendix A will apply.

12.2. Four races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

12.3. Excluding scores:

12.3.1. When fewer than five races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

12.3.2. When from five to nine races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

12.3.3. When ten or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

 

13. Berthing

13.1. Boats shall be kept in their assigned places on the club’s premises.

 

14. Support/Coach Boats:

14.1. Support/coach boats shall register with the organising authority before Race 1. They will be required to fly their national flag as an identification flag at all times while on the water.

 

15. Radio communication

15.1. Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

16. Prizes

16.1. The overall winner will be awarded the title “International FJ European Champion 2010” and will win the International FJ European Championship trophy.

16.2. Prizes will be awarded to at least the Skipper and Crew of the overall top three boats.

 

17. Disclaimer of liability

17.1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4 of The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 - 2012, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

 

18. Insurance

18.1. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of €1.000.000,- per event or the equivalent.

18.2. A certificate of insurance shall be presented to the organizing authority upon request.
